## Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on **Data Science Manager** to lead a team of 6–8 AI - Computer Vision engineers. This role is crucial in setting technical direction, personally solving challenging modeling problems, and fostering a high-performing engineering team in a fast-moving environment of a venture-backed industrial AI start-up.
## Responsibilities
- **Technical Leadership & Hands-on Delivery**:
- Own the end-to-end computer vision roadmap.
- Architect and build solutions for complex vision challenges including novel defect types, multi-camera fusion, and real-time inference.
- Evaluate and adopt new models and techniques, translating research into production value.
- Define and enforce engineering standards for the vision stack, including model training pipelines and edge export formats.
- Drive inference optimization to meet performance targets.
- **Team Building & People Growth**:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 6–8 Computer Vision engineers.
- Hire and onboard strong engineers while raising the technical bar.
- Manage sprint planning, task prioritization, and delivery timelines.
- **Innovation & Problem Solving**:
- Identify new vision problems and design creative solutions.
- Champion a data-centric AI approach and establish robust evaluation frameworks.
## Qualifications
- **Educational Background**:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- **Key Skills**:
- 4–8 years of hands-on experience in computer vision with a strong track record from research to production.
- Proficiency in **Python** and **PyTorch**; knowledge of OpenCV and image/video processing fundamentals.
- Expertise in multiple CV tasks: object detection, segmentation, anomaly detection, etc.
- Experience with modern model families such as YOLO and transformer-based models.
- Production experience deploying models using TensorRT, ONNX, or OpenVINO.
- Strong problem-solving skills in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
## Preferred Skills
- Prior experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams, even without a formal management title.
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing domains.
- Familiarity with zero-shot detection and vision-language models.
- Knowledge of 3D vision, depth estimation, and multi-object tracking.
- Contributions to open-source CV projects or publications in top-tier venues.
