Data Science Team Lead

The Data Science Team Lead will manage and grow the Prague data science team while remaining hands-on in delivering complex projects involving process intelligence, AI, and advanced analytics. The role requires balancing team leadership, operational management, and client-facing solution architecture.

Processand is a process intelligence consultancy of around 40 people, headquartered in Munich with an office in Prague. We help large companies understand how their processes really run - in Sales, Procurement, Production and Supply Chain - and turn that into measurable improvement. We combine Celonis and other process intelligence and automation tools with our own data science. Clients include Deutsche Bahn, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, Knorr-Bremse and Rational, as well as leading brands in beverages, automotive and consumer goods.
The role
You lead our Prague Data Science team - four people today, with more to come - and work on projects alongside them. You set goals, give honest feedback and help each person grow. On projects, you design the process intelligence and automation solutions, work directly with clients and own the quality of what the team delivers. We measure you on how the team performs and grows.
What you'll do
Leading the team:
- Lead with trust: give people room to own their work, and develop them where they are not there yet.
- Give honest, structured feedback and know where each person wants to go.
- Set clear goals and onboard new joiners well.
- Balance capacity across projects, flag resourcing risks early and coordinate staffing with Munich.
- Help build the Prague office, with the whole company in mind.
Delivery:
- Take complex process intelligence and data science projects from idea to delivery - hands-on, not just reviewing.
- Design simple, scalable solution concepts before building starts.
- Use process mining, automation, AI and advanced analytics to turn data into decisions clients act on.
- Build strong client relationships, align expectations early and step in when things get tricky.
What you bring
Must-haves
- 3+ years in Data Science, Data Analytics or Business Intelligence, with hands-on skills in data engineering and modelling.
- You think in solution concepts: clean, scalable architectures before anyone starts building.
- A business mindset - you care about what the work changes for the client.
- Confident with clients and senior stakeholders.
- Fluent English (C1 level); comfortable in a CZ/DE setup.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience leading a technical team. This is our preference - if you are ready for your first lead role and the fit is right, we will support you.
- Process mining background; Celonis experience is a plus.
- Front-end delivery in a BI or process intelligence tool.
- Czech and/or German.
