About the role We’re seeking an experienced Data Scientist to help improve consumer shopping and product experiences. You’ll use product analytics and experimentation to understand customer behaviour, identify opportunities and make recommendations that inform product development.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role, working closely with product and engineering partners. You’ll focus on analysis, experimentation and influencing decisions. People management and production model deployment are outside the scope of the role.

Key responsibilities
  • Explore complex datasets to identify patterns, opportunities and insights.
  • Apply statistical methods, machine learning, programming, data modelling and advanced mathematics to support product improvement.
  • Design, develop and evaluate predictive models and algorithms.
  • Form and test hypotheses, analyse product experiments and interpret results.
  • Assess customer interactions and purchasing trends to inform product decisions.
  • Work with engineers to translate prototypes and analytical findings into product improvements.
  • Provide business intelligence and data visualisation support, including dashboard analysis and ad hoc requests.
  • Communicate complex findings clearly and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Required experience and skills
  • Around 8–10 years’ relevant experience in data science or a related analytical role.
  • E-commerce experience, ideally with an advertising platform or major retailer.
  • Knowledge of advertising and practical experience with experimentation methodology.
  • Ability to drive analytical work independently as a hands-on individual contributor.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Experience with Python or R, big data tools such as Hadoop, or visualisation tools such as Tableau.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • A master’s degree in computer science or a relevant field.
Experience with machine learning infrastructure, AI tools or product recommendation systems would be beneficial. Candidates with finance or banking experience should also have experience in consumer, retail or e-commerce settings.

The team and work You’ll join a data science team working on consumer-facing product experiences. Projects may include assessing market opportunities, testing product features and analysing customer behaviour. Work typically involves preparing experiments, evaluating results and sharing recommendations with product and engineering partners.

The team uses Python and AI-assisted tools to support analytical work. Success in the role means delivering organised, high-quality evaluations and actionable findings that help improve product outcomes.

Interview process

The process includes two rounds: a technical interview and a non-technical interview focused on communication, stakeholder leadership and influencing skills.
