Data Scientist
About the Role
A leading professional services organisation is looking for a high-calibre, early-career Data Scientist / AI Scientist to join its growing Data & AI team.
This role is ideal for a highly analytical and intellectually curious candidate, preferably with a PhD or strong academic background in Data Science, Computer Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Mathematics, Computational Linguistics or a related field.
You will work on advanced Machine Learning, NLP, Generative AI and LLM initiatives, applying cutting-edge techniques to complex business and knowledge-based problems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and deploy machine learning, NLP and statistical models.
• Work with LLMs, RAG, embeddings and information retrieval technologies.
• Fine-tune and apply models such as BERT, Llama and Qwen to real-world use cases.
• Build AI workflows using prompt engineering, prompt chaining and NLP pipelines.
• Analyse large datasets to identify patterns, insights and anomalies.
• Develop visualisations and analytical solutions for non-technical stakeholders.
• Build scalable, well-documented and reproducible data science solutions.
• Stay current with developments in Generative AI, Deep Learning, NLP and Machine Learning.
What We're Looking For :
• PhD strongly preferred in a relevant quantitative or technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in Data Science, AI/ML, or equivalent research experience.
• Strong Python/R and SQL skills.
• Solid understanding of Machine Learning, statistics and data modelling.
• Experience with scikit-learn, pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow or similar.
• Knowledge of NLP, LLMs, RAG, embeddings and information retrieval is highly desirable.
• Strong academic track record and genuine interest in emerging AI technologies.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Legal or professional services experience is a plus, but not essential.
