About the role and team
Science at Uber means transforming the complex reality of global data into the insights that power our most significant decisions. As a Data Scientist II, you will turn complexity into clarity by deep-diving into massive datasets to solve features of moderate complexity and projects with multiple dependencies. This is an analytics-focused role where you will independently refine ambiguous questions and translate business requirements into system designs that improve the user journey for millions of riders, earners, and merchants worldwide.
You will join a high-stakes environment where the work is fast-moving, and the results are felt in the real world every day. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with Product, Engineering, and Operations, you will lead the analysis of key product areas and establish monitoring systems to ensure code and platform reliability. Rate of Pay: $164,403 to $174,000 per year

What you’ll do
- Work closely with the web product team to design and analyze experiments.
- Monitor and understand business trends, proactively flag them and work with stakeholders to strategize on solutioning.
- Conduct deep dives to develop/help answer abstract questions about product usage.
- Develop dashboards that provide reliable insights and visualization into all lines of businesses (LOBs) that touch or web platforms.
- May telecommute.
Basic Qualifications
- Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Quantitative Management, or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
- Position requires:
- Database query languages including SQL;
- Data visualization using tableau or similar BI tools like looker, amplitude, or mixpanel;
- Performing scalable analysis using R or Python;
- Experimentation techniques & statistical analysis including A/B testing, descriptive statistics, correlation, or confidence intervals;
- Developing relevant metrics or KPIs to measure performance by product teams;
- Collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex topics through powerpoint presentations and analysis reports to audiences with different backgrounds;
- Translating high-level organizational objectives into technical data science roadmaps and specific machine learning project requirements to ensure analytical outputs directly support business goals;
- Experience with big data frameworks such as Spark and Hive for scalable data processing.
