Summary

Data Scientist at an AI startup building foundation models for structured business data (financial, operational, customer, industrial). Day to day: tackle prediction problems like credit risk, churn and forecasting, build data pipelines and features, run benchmarks/experiments, and deploy production solutions alongside client stakeholders. Core stack: Python, SQL, scikit-learn, LightGBM/XGBoost.

Data Scientist | AI Startup | London / Paris

Join a rapidly growing startup working on state-of-the-art foundation models designed specifically for the vast amounts of structured data that power businesses, from financial and operational data to customer and industrial datasets. The aim is to fundamentally change how companies build and deploy predictive models by using their unique platform to outperform existing industry benchmarks.

They’re looking for a Data Scientist with strong hands-on experience working with real-world problems to partner with clients from post-sale to deployment.

As a Data Scientist, you can expect to work on:

• Credit risk, forecasting, churn, predictive maintenance and other quantitative prediction problems

• Building robust data pipelines and feature engineering workflows

• Designing rigorous experiments, benchmarks and evaluation frameworks

• Working with messy, real-world datasets and understanding data quality, leakage, sampling and distribution shift

• Developing and deploying production-quality solutions

• Working closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate problems into measurable outcomes

What they’re looking for:

• 3+ years of hands-on Data Science / Machine Learning experience

• Strong Python and SQL

• Excellent understanding of structured data pipelines (tabular, time-series etc)

• Experience with tools such as scikit-learn, LightGBM, XGBoost, or similar

• Strong understanding of evaluation, experimentation and model performance

• Experience taking projects from data through to production

• Ideally, deep domain expertise in Finance, Energy, Insurance, Manufacturing / Industry, or another data-intensive sector

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with stakeholders

(You don't need to have a traditional consulting or client-facing background - experience working closely with internal business teams is equally relevant.)

This would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of a dataset, understanding the underlying business problem, and building solutions that have a genuine impact.
