The Data Steward is responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and governance of enterprise data assets. This role serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams by defining data standards, validating data accuracy, maintaining business metadata, and supporting data governance initiatives.

The Data Steward works closely with business process owners, data engineers, analysts, and application teams to ensure data is reliable, well-documented, and aligned with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing data quality assessments to identify inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and missing information.
  • Validate data across reports, dashboards, databases, and source systems.
  • Monitor data quality metrics and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reconcile data between ERP, CRM, data warehouse, and other enterprise systems.
  • Assist in executing periodic data audits and validation exercises.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to support the development, documentation, and enforcement of enterprise data governance policies.
  • Document data lineage, ownership, definitions, and usage guidelines.
  • Ensure metadata remains current as systems, processes, and reporting requirements evolve.
  • Support users in understanding available data assets and business definitions.
  • Maintain documentation for enterprise KPIs, metrics, and reporting calculations.
  • Assist in governance reviews of critical reports and dashboards.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for data-related questions and definitions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, business systems, master data management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with business data and reporting processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Dynamics, SyteLine, Oracle, or similar enterprise systems in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with data governance principles and frameworks.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Basic SQL knowledge and understanding of relational databases.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts.
  • Experience documenting business processes and data definitions.
