Data Support Engineer

  • Support, monitor, test, and improve Microsoft Fabric data solutions across business teams and user groups
  • Assess business data support needs, source systems, data quality, technical constraints, incidents, and readiness
  • Create support models, data solution designs, runbooks, remediation plans, and stakeholder engagement materials
  • Support Fabric items, data engineering workloads, Data Factory pipelines, lakehouse and warehouse assets, notebooks, semantic models, and workspace content
  • Integrate Microsoft Fabric with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Dataverse, SQL, Excel, Azure data services, Power BI, and AI/ML solutions using Microsoft Foundry
  • Build guides, support notes, refresh runbooks, release updates, and knowledge articles
  • Support governance adoption, including workspaces, security, data access, refresh, deployment pipelines, capacity usage, access controls, and standards
  • Use Microsoft Foundry, Fabric Data Science, notebooks, and related AI/ML services to improve forecasting, classification, automation, workflows, and data-driven actions
  • Track platform usage, performance, adoption, capacity, incidents, and data issues and recommend continuous improvements
  • Engage with stakeholders, data owners, service teams, analysts, makers, and end users

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in data platform support, data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, application support, or solution delivery roles
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Fabric workspaces, Data Factory, lakehouses, warehouses, notebooks, semantic models, pipelines, deployment pipelines, and Power BI integration
  • Experience supporting data platforms, operational analytics, executive reporting, self-service analytics, AI/ML enablement, and data-led business improvements
  • Ability to troubleshoot data pipelines, refresh failures, access issues, performance concerns, data quality defects, and integration problems
  • Ability to create support runbooks, data dictionaries, technical notes, user guides, release notes, incident updates, and support artefacts
  • Experience running support reviews, incident triage sessions, data solution walkthroughs, backlog reviews, and stakeholder briefings
  • Understanding of Microsoft Fabric governance, security, workspace management, data sensitivity, sharing models, capacity usage, access controls, and data lifecycle basics
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Foundry, Fabric Data Science, AI/ML workloads, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, connectors, and Microsoft 365 integration patterns
  • Familiarity with SQL, Excel, SharePoint, Dataverse, APIs, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Fabric, Synapse, Power BI, Microsoft Foundry, or Dynamics 365 data sources
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, data analytics, business systems, engineering, or related field
  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance
  • Existing Australian Government security clearance viewed favourably
  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
  • Desirable: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
  • Desirable: Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102)
  • Relevant Azure data, Microsoft 365, integration, data governance, AI/ML, or IT service management certifications
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills
