Overview

In this role you will support Copernicus mission preparation and operations from ESOC Darmstadt, contributing to ground software systems and flight control interfaces. You will work with cross-functional teams to specify software requirements, operate and evolve mission control systems, and coordinate with external data system stakeholders. The position involves incident management, testing, and on-call support during critical operational phases such as launches. You’ll engage with customers and the Flight Control Team to ensure reliable service delivery in a demanding, international environment.

  • Specify software requirements with operational users for data systems
  • Coordinate with external communities involved in data system operations
  • Define and oversee evolution of mission control systems according to needs and hardware/software changes
  • Lead investigation and resolution of issues in operational systems
  • Conduct tests and simulations; serve as software coordinator within Flight Control Team during critical phases
  • Support continual service delivery and on-call incident response
  • Maintain SCOS-2000-based Mission Control Systems and related systems (EDDS, EGOS-MPS, DARC)
  • Provide support to customers on ground software systems development
  • Support Flight Control Team and operations; participate in related meetings and long-term planning
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Experience in data systems engineering support (advantageous)
  • Experience with Copernicus Sentinel missions desirable
  • University degree in a relevant field (engineering, astronomy, mathematics, or physics)
  • Experience in software engineering for data processing systems
  • Proficiency with Unix/Linux scripting, C++, Java, Python
  • Understanding of user needs in complex software systems
  • Knowledge of Earth Observation Mission Control Systems
  • Knowledge of SCOS-2000 and/or EDDS, EGOS-MPS, DARC or similar
  • Service-oriented attitude towards end users
  • Medium/Advanced Linux experience
  • English fluency (written and spoken)
