Summary
Supports Copernicus Sentinel mission preparation and operations at ESOC in Darmstadt: specifying requirements, maintaining and evolving SCOS-2000-based mission control systems (EDDS, EGOS-MPS, DARC), leading incident resolution, running tests/simulations, and providing on-call support during critical phases like launches. Core tech: Linux/Unix, C++, Java, Python.
In this role you will support Copernicus mission preparation and operations from ESOC Darmstadt, contributing to ground software systems and flight control interfaces. You will work with cross-functional teams to specify software requirements, operate and evolve mission control systems, and coordinate with external data system stakeholders. The position involves incident management, testing, and on-call support during critical operational phases such as launches. You’ll engage with customers and the Flight Control Team to ensure reliable service delivery in a demanding, international environment.

- Experience in data systems engineering support (advantageous)
- Experience with Copernicus Sentinel missions desirable
- University degree in a relevant field (engineering, astronomy, mathematics, or physics)
- Experience in software engineering for data processing systems
- Proficiency with Unix/Linux scripting, C++, Java, Python
- Understanding of user needs in complex software systems
- Knowledge of Earth Observation Mission Control Systems
- Knowledge of SCOS-2000 and/or EDDS, EGOS-MPS, DARC or similar
- Service-oriented attitude towards end users
- Medium/Advanced Linux experience
