A snapshot of your key responsibilities as Data Warehouse Manager would be:

• Own the performance, availability, resilience, security and lifecycle management of the enterprise data warehouse estate, including Teradata and GCP BigQuery.

• Lead the controlled transition from legacy data warehouse models to modern cloud data platforms, ensuring service continuity, managing migration risks and supporting operational readiness.

• Work closely with Data Governance teams to ensure critical data assets have clear ownership, definitions, data quality measures, metadata and lineage.

• Ensure data platforms meet relevant privacy, cyber security, audit and regulatory requirements.

• Drive operational excellence across data warehouse services, including incident management, access reviews, release planning, run-books, observability, service risk management and continuous improvement.

• Act as the senior Data Warehouse contact for business and technology stakeholders, translating complex technical topics into clear business language and supporting prioritisation.

• Enable the delivery of governed, accessible and AI-ready datasets, while identifying opportunities to automate reporting, reconciliation, data quality monitoring and other operational activities.

• Lead, coach and develop the Data Warehouse team, setting clear objectives, capability plans and performance expectations.

• Manage cloud costs, budgets and optimisation through effective FinOps controls.

• Support the ongoing modernisation of the data warehouse capability, enabling reliable access to high-quality data, consistent metrics, reusable data products and modern analytics.

Requirements:

· 5+ years’ experience in a similar role

· Proven experience leading enterprise data warehouse operations, platform ownership or data engineering delivery within a business-critical environment.

· Strong knowledge of enterprise data warehouse platforms, cloud data services, ETL/ELT pipelines, BI enablement, semantic layers and workload optimisation.

· Experience with Teradata and GCP BigQuery would be highly desirable.

· Experience managing service reliability, incidents, releases, access controls, audit actions and operational KPIs.

· Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, data catalogue, lineage, GDPR and cyber security.

· Experience managing or contributing to cloud FinOps, including forecasting, budget governance and cost optimisation.

· Strong leadership, coaching, prioritisation and structured problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs, risks, options and business value to senior stakeholders.

· Experience within the Telecommunications or Utilities sector would be advantageous, although candidates from other industries will be considered where they can demonstrate the required experience.

· A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, Technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
