Database Administrator | Contract

Job Responsibilities

• Provision and configure databases, including the installation and management of required licenses.
• Implement and maintain database security controls, backup strategies, and recovery procedures.
• Monitor database health, performance, availability, user access, and security compliance.
• Manage database configurations and parameters to optimize performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database and server performance issues in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions to streamline database administration tasks and operational processes.
• Implement configuration management practices to support business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
• Support highly available and secure database platforms while balancing usability and operational efficiency.
• Perform database maintenance, patching, upgrades, and capacity planning activities.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to support business and project requirements.

Job Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4 - 7 years of experience in Database Administration, with hands-on expertise in database administration and security management, SQL development and programming, database performance tuning and optimization, as well as High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
• Hands-on experience administering databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Knowledge of database management, security, backup and recovery, and system administration.
• Experience with SQL programming, database performance tuning, and scalability optimization.
• Practical experience troubleshooting database and server performance issues.
• Passion for automation, standardization, and implementing operational best practices.
• Experience with cloud database technologies, particularly AWS RDS, is a plus.
• Relevant database, cloud, or security certifications are highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
