Database Administrator
Summary
Maintain and optimize SQL databases, write and tune queries, automate tasks with Python, and ensure data integrity and high availability for a data platform.
- Write, review, and optimize SQL queries.
- Analyze database performance and identify slow or inefficient queries.
- Support database monitoring, health checks, and capacity analysis.
- Assist with database backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability activities.
- Investigate database incidents and help identify root causes.
- Perform benchmarking and compare database configurations, queries, and technologies.
- Develop Python scripts to automate repetitive database and operational tasks.
- Validate data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Prepare technical reports, performance findings, and recommendations.
- Support documentation of database standards, operational procedures, and best practices.
- Learn how database changes are safely tested before being applied to critical environments.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the Data Platform.
Requirements
- Good foundational knowledge of SQL.
- The ability to write queries using joins, aggregations, filtering, and subqueries.
