Job Description
- Manage end-to-end MongoDB environments, including deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and security.
- Design and administer Replica Sets and Sharded Clusters to support scalability and high availability.
- Monitor production systems proactively and resolve database performance issues.
- Optimise queries, indexing strategies, and aggregation pipelines in partnership with development teams.
- Manage MongoDB Atlas and cloud-hosted database environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery processes.
- Automate routine database administration, monitoring, and health-check activities to improve operational efficiency.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on MongoDB administration experience within production environments.
- Proven experience managing Replica Sets, Sharding, and MongoDB Cluster architectures.
- Strong understanding of WiredTiger storage engine, indexing concepts, and MongoDB diagnostic tools.
- Experience with database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimisation in Linux or Unix environments.
- Exposure to cloud database administration across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience supporting Oracle, PostgreSQL, or additional NoSQL technologies.
- Python or Shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of database security concepts including TLS/SSL, RBAC, and encryption-at-rest.
- Familiarity with monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or MongoDB Ops Manager.
- Exposure to enterprise-scale database migration, modernization, or cloud adoption projects.
