Summary
Maintain and troubleshoot MS SQL Server 2014 databases on Windows Server 2012 R2, diagnose integrations, and support third-party API/ODBC connections for a US-based client.
Database Administrator / MS SQL Consultant out staff for a US-based client, 2 months contract with possibility of extension.
Start: Immediate
Duration: Minimum 2 months
Hours: Burstable, varying week to week, up to 40 hrs/week
Location: Remote, working on-premises client systems via VPN
Environment
MS SQL Server 2014 on Windows Server 2012 R2 (primary database server)
Fully on-premises infrastructure accessed via VPN; very limited Azure footprint
5–6 servers, fewer than 10 databases, with a large number of integrations between systems
Home-grown applications built on ColdFusion; third-party projects connecting via API and ODBC calls
Key Responsibilities
Ramp up quickly with minimal onboarding and independently diagnose reported database issues
Support and troubleshoot integrations between servers, databases, and applications
Coordinate with third-party developers connecting via API/ODBC
Communicate proactively and clearly with client team members and external project partners — a critical part of the role
Ideal Profile
Strong hands-on MS SQL Server administration experience (comfortable with legacy versions — 2014 era)
Experience with Windows Server environments and integration-heavy architectures (API, ODBC)
Able to work independently with very limited onboarding
Strong communicator; comfortable working across internal teams and external vendors
