The Database Administrator provides technical skill and expertise in the management of enterprise database systems. Plans database definition, structure, documentation, operational guidelines and protection elements, and establishes security and integrity controls as well as database policies, procedures and standards against long-term requirements. Plans, prioritizes and manages highly complex projects, service requests, and routine assignments. Provides I&T solutions and services which ultimately contribute to patient safety and care. .

The Database Administrator is expected to actively work technical projects as well as provide/receive guidance to/from team members as needed to ensure quality and delivery of work.

This position is expected to work both independently and with various teams across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Works closely with application owners to support and troubleshoot database issues and responds to incidents in a timely manner.

· Works as part of an on-call rotation

· Understands database licenses models and how they impact cost.

· Provides pre-procurements consultation and recommendations.

· Installs and configured new databases.

· Creates users, roles and permissions.

· Write and modifies queries, stored procedures, and packages.

· Provides ongoing maintenance and patching.

· Configures database environments according to vendor recommendations while complying with Bon Secours Mercy I&T standards

· Performs routine proactive monitoring of database environments and health checks.

· Performs performance tuning and optimization.

· Designs backup processes for databases.

· Establishes disaster recover protocols.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, information sciences, or related field and/or 5+ years equivalent work experience.

· 4+ experience within a complex healthcare environment.

Experienced Preferred

· Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

· Ability to author technical documents and create procedure manuals.

· Strong interpersonal, oral communication, and proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to conduct research into current and future technologies.

· Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.

· Healthcare knowledge/background including data privacy practices and laws.

· Strong customer service orientation.

· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

· SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Oracle, AlwaysOn Clusters, Microsoft Assessment and Planning, T-SQL.

· Quest Litespeed, Quest Foglight, Azure, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), AIX, Linux, SAP Hana, PACs, SQL*Plus, XML, JSON.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

· Requires on-call duty 24-hrs/day as a part of a rotation schedule for emergency response to critical technical situations requiring immediate attention.
