What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems that support the organization's applications and data requirements.
  • Monitor database performance and conduct regular health checks to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries to enhance application performance and ensure efficient data retrieval.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and availability, minimizing downtime in case of failures.
  • Collaborate with software developers to design database schemas that align with application needs and business objectives.
  • Conduct routine database maintenance tasks, including indexing, partitioning, and archiving, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Establish and enforce database security protocols to protect sensitive information and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues, assisting users and other IT staff as needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in database management, recommending improvements and innovations.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in database administration, preferably with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, as well as disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and tools to protect sensitive data.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques.

Nice to have
