Accountabilities:
The Senior Database Administrator will oversee database operations, ensuring stable, secure, and high-performing environments while supporting business and technology objectives.
- Manage and maintain production and non-production database environments, ensuring availability, reliability, and compliance with established standards.
- Monitor database health, capacity, and performance, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Support database architecture, physical data storage design, maintenance processes, access management, and security administration.
- Define and enforce database security policies, including user permissions, access controls, and data protection practices.
- Perform database backup and recovery operations while ensuring effective disaster recovery capabilities.
- Configure database parameters and develop solutions aligned with logical data models and business requirements.
- Define and maintain data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and data warehousing structures.
- Optimize database performance by analyzing resource utilization, query execution, and system behavior.
- Implement tuning strategies to improve database efficiency, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and IT teams to support end-to-end performance objectives.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, reports, and operational procedures.
- Adapt to evolving project requirements and support additional technical responsibilities as needed.
- Experience working as an ADABAS Database Administrator (DBA) with Software AG products in a mainframe environment.
- At least 3 years of experience managing database systems, including design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration across multi-platform environments.
- Proven experience managing production and non-production databases with a focus on stability, security, and performance.
- Hands-on experience with database backup and recovery processes, database configuration, logical data models, and repository design.
- Experience optimizing database access, allocating resources, and improving system performance and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with DB2 is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and technical teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe productivity tools.
