This role is an opportunity to contribute to enterprise data platforms that support critical business and healthcare-related operations. You will design, develop, and maintain database solutions with a strong focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and data availability. Working across data engineering, reporting, development, and business teams, you will translate complex requirements into effective data models and automated workflows. The position offers meaningful ownership of enterprise data warehouse and data lake processes, including high-volume ETL development. You will also help modernize database capabilities, evaluate emerging technologies, and establish technical best practices. Your work will directly support reporting, system integration, analytics, and informed business decision-making.
Accountabilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise database solutions, ensuring stability, reliability, performance, and availability.
- Design and implement Microsoft SQL Server SSIS ETL jobs capable of processing high-volume data sources within required processing windows.
- Manage and enhance Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lake processes and policies in alignment with broader data architecture strategies and best practices.
- Analyze business and technical requirements to create effective data models, data structures, functions, views, dataflows, and dependencies.
- Develop, test, maintain, and refactor Microsoft SQL database objects, including stored procedures and other components supporting enterprise applications.
- Build and maintain data integration solutions for reporting, analytics, and consumption by other systems.
- Work closely with users and business stakeholders to define, automate, and implement data warehouse requirements using the Microsoft SQL Business Intelligence stack.
- Support reporting environments and visualization solutions, including SSRS, Tableau, and other business intelligence tools.
- Interpret complex business logic and highly normalized database structures to develop accurate and scalable reporting and data solutions.
- Collaborate with database professionals, developers, analysts, front-end programmers, customer support teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Investigate emerging database and data technologies and provide technical recommendations that can improve existing capabilities and support future initiatives.
- Monitor relevant industry trends and translate them into practical recommendations for technical and business leadership.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, database application documentation, ETL documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide technical support for critical software issues when required and contribute to maintaining reliable business operations.
- Serve as an independent contributor and technical role model, sharing knowledge and supporting other database developers.
- 5+ years of professional experience working with data in a healthcare-related environment, with clinical or billing data experience considered a strong advantage.
- 5+ years of experience developing reports against Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- 2+ years of experience working with source control systems such as Git, SVN, TFS, or similar platforms.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of T-SQL, including complex queries, correlated subqueries, stored procedures, and inline SQL.
- Practical experience with SSIS and the design and management of ETL processes.
- Experience with SSRS, Tableau, or comparable data visualization and reporting technologies.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, database architecture, system integration, data dependencies, and dataflow design.
- Ability to quickly understand complex, highly normalized databases and sophisticated reporting structures.
- Strong critical-thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to explain data modeling and process-flow concepts clearly and adapt technical solutions to business requirements.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, learn new programming and database techniques, and make sound technical recommendations.
- Salary range of $98,000–$131,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
