Database Engineer

emagine is looking for a Database Engineer consultant to support our client’s Oracle to PostgreSQL

migration. You'll spend 80% of your time actively supporting the migration and 20% reviewing our setup and recommending improvements.

Start: Latest 1st of October - 6 month initial contract with high possibility to extension

Scope: 100%,

Location: Stockholm, 2 days per week in the office

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and hands-on support the end-to-end migration of Oracle database services

to PostgreSQL, ensuring minimal disruption to the PAM platform.

• Bridge the gap between Development Teams and the Database, turning application

requirements into practical database solutions across the migration journey.

• Review and validate database schemas, configurations, and application code

changes to ensure accuracy, performance, and compatibility.

• Document learnings and best practices for future migrations.

Required Skills:

• Deep experience as a PostgreSQL DBA or PostgreSQL developer.

• Knowledge of Oracle databases and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL datatype mappings.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL migration projects.

• Ability to work independently within an established migration framework.

• Strong collaboration skills to work alongside database and the developer teams.

• Understanding Liquibase for schema versioning and migration.

Note: The applications do not contain PL/SQL code, so no PL/SQL conversion is required

as part of this engagement.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Knowledge in Java application working with Postgres.

• Experience working with distributed systems and event-driven architecture, ideally

with Kafka and/or Solace.

• Experience with AI agents and automation in development workflows (e.g.,

Cursor/Claude agent skills)

• Experience migrating high-traffic services with minimal downtime
