Datacenter Design Lead
Summary
Lead the physical design of AI datacenter campuses, including power, cooling, and layout for high-density compute facilities up to 1 MW+ racks.
You lead the physical design of AI factory sites, owning power topology, cooling architecture, civil works, and facility layout from concept through construction handover. You design high-density compute facilities, lead modeling and simulation, drive electrical architecture decisions, create scalable design patterns, and serve as the senior technical authority for physical infrastructure tradeoffs.
Responsibilities
- Lead datacenter campus and compute hall design
- Own power topology, cooling topology, rack density planning, cable routing, and physical deployment standards
- Design facilities for 100 kW to 1 MW+ racks
- Design liquid cooling, CDU loop architectures, chilled water systems, rear-door heat exchangers, immersion readiness, and redundancy strategies
- Lead CAD, CFD/CFM modeling, thermal simulation, electrical one-lines, grounding, UPS and generator integration, and fire suppression design inputs
- Drive electrical architecture decisions across utility interconnection, switchgear, UPS, backup generation, grounding, and distribution
- Create repeatable design patterns across campuses and deployment waves
- Serve as the senior technical authority for physical infrastructure tradeoffs
Requirements
- Experience building hyperscale campuses, HPC datacenters, liquid-cooled facilities, or high-density compute deployments
- Deep knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems engineering for mission-critical environments
- Knowledge of direct-to-chip liquid cooling and advanced thermal architectures
- Strong command of CAD and CFD simulation and facility design workflows
- Experience delivering projects with construction and utility partners
- Ability to coordinate site selection, capacity planning, and utility timelines
- Success bridging facility engineering detail with strategic infrastructure roadmaps
