Decision Engineering Team Lead, Business Operations

Open 22d

About Fluidstack

We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.

We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.

We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!

Overview:

We are hiring a Decision Engineering Team Lead for the Business Operations team. You'll lead a small team of Decision Engineers (AI Software Engineers) building AI-powered tools and decision systems that make business operations workflows significantly more productive, while still shipping hands-on. You'll set technical direction, own the team's delivery bar, grow engineers, and partner with leadership to pick the highest-impact AI augmentation bets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of Decision Engineers, setting technical direction and owning the bar for what ships

  • Still build hands-on: personally ship the highest-leverage AI tools and agents for business operations workflows

  • Own the team's delivery: identify the highest-impact AI augmentation opportunities across business operations workflows and turn them into shipped tools with measurable productivity gains

  • Design and maintain shared AI infrastructure including AGENTS.md and SKILLS.md, and shared skills the wider organization builds on

  • Grow the engineers on your team through review, direction, and hiring

  • Partner with team and functional leadership to translate their goals into an AI tooling roadmap

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience including leading engineers or owning technical direction for a team

  • Production-grade code in Go, Python, and TypeScript (and the ability to work in an arbitrary language, primarily driving AI coding tools)

  • Strong full-stack development skills building web applications (React, Next.js, or similar frameworks)

  • Hands-on experience building applications with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-weight models), creating and using MCP servers, and agentic frameworks

  • Deep understanding of AI coding agent tools including Claude Code and Cursor, and the agent frameworks around them

  • Proven ability to work autonomously and get a team (and their agents) to ship results with minimal direction and high impact

  • Great product and design taste, and the judgment to balance rapid iteration with maintainable foundations others build on

  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and drive adoption

  • Nice to have: exposure to business operations, finance, or strategy-and-operations workflows, or to leading teams building internal operational tooling

Benefits:

  • Competitive total compensation package (cash + equity)

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Retirement plan

  • Generous PTO policy

We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
