ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Deli Clerk to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing and packaging deli products, assisting customers with orders, and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked department. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, pays attention to detail, and works well in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Prepare, slice, weigh, package, label, and display deli products according to company standards.
• Prepare sandwiches and specialty orders accurately and efficiently.
• Assist customers with product selections, answer questions, and provide friendly, courteous service.
• Monitor product freshness, quality, and proper rotation.
• Stock and organize deli displays, refrigerated cases, and storage areas.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and checking products for quality and accuracy.
• Report low inventory, damaged products, or spoilage to department management.
• Safely operate deli slicers, scales, wrapping equipment, and other authorized department equipment.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
• Follow company procedures for food handling, sanitation, temperature control, and workplace safety.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous deli, food preparation, or customer service experience is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided.
• Friendly, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and packaging products.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, or willingness to learn.
• Valid California Food Handler Card or ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY

Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, and repetitive hand movements.

Employees may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in refrigerated, freezer, and warm food preparation environments. The position also involves working around sharp utensils, deli equipment, wet surfaces, and cleaning products.
