Delivery Manager (Financial Services - Lending)
We are seeking a dynamic, delivery-focused professional to join our CTO function as a Delivery Manager supporting a portfolio of change across the Digital Bank and Commercial franchises. This role will lead cross-functional squads delivering both customer-facing and internal change — ranging from digital platform enhancements to AI-powered automation.
You will work at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Risk, and Business teams to deliver initiatives safely, compliantly and at pace — in line with Shawbrook’s Change Delivery Policy (v14) and associated standards.
This is a hands-on role designed for a delivery leader who can manage hybrid change across a regulated environment — combining traditional governance with modern agile execution, and supporting the safe rollout of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Execution
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of complex initiatives across the Digital Bank and Commercial franchises, with an AI first mentality.
- Apply agile, hybrid or waterfall delivery methods depending on initiative scope, while ensuring compliance with Shawbrook’s governance standards.
- Support 1–2 cross-functional squads, working closely with Product Owners and Tech Leads to align on delivery scope, sequencing, and readiness.
- Maintain short-term planning horizons (typically 0–6 months), and manage sprint, milestone, and release cadence.
- Proactively manage blockers, dependencies, and risks across internal and third-party teams.
Governance & Control
- Ensure all delivery is compliant with the Change Delivery Policy, including mandatory artefacts (RAID logs, Impact Assessments, Test Approaches, Run Books, Steering Packs).
- Maintain high delivery hygiene: RAID logs updated weekly, stakeholder updates accurate and timely, decisions clearly recorded.
- Own SteerCo-level reporting inputs and ensure appropriate stakeholder alignment.
- Support Go / No-Go readiness for relevant releases, including risk assessments, roll-back plans and delivery of required artefacts.
AI & Emerging Tech Enablement
- Partner with Product, Data Science, Engineering and Control Functions to support the delivery of AI initiatives as they embed into core journeys.
- Understand delivery implications of AI/ML models, automation tools, or third-party integrations and ensure the same standards of change control and testing are upheld.
- Ensure risks (e.g. model risk, privacy, explainability) are logged, understood, and mitigated via appropriate collaboration with Risk and Compliance.
Team Support & Coaching
- Foster an environment of psychological safety, collaboration and continuous improvement within squads.
- Facilitate sprint rituals and retrospectives; champion agile ways of working tailored to squad maturity.
- Work with Senior Delivery Managers and Heads of Delivery to elevate delivery practice and maturity across the function.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven track record delivering technology and business change in regulated environments, ideally Financial Services.
- Hands-on experience managing cross-functional squads or teams delivering digital products or platforms.
- Knowledge of agile, waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies and ability to flex between them depending on the context.
- Strong understanding of delivery governance and control frameworks — RAID logs, SteerCo reporting, Go / No-Go readiness.
- Comfortable working in regulated change environments (e.g. PRA SS1/21, FCA Consumer Duty).
Desirable
- Exposure to AI or data-led initiatives (e.g. automation, NLP, ML model deployment, decisioning tools).
- Understanding of AI risk considerations (e.g. model explainability, privacy, bias).
- Experience working with cloud-based platforms, third-party integrations, or large-scale platform change.
Key Attributes
- Highly structured, calm under pressure, and excellent at managing ambiguity.
- Proactive, accountable and delivery-focused — owns outcomes, not just ceremonies.
- Builds trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong communicator — keeps delivery transparent, pragmatic, and business-aligned.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and pragmatic agility.
