Dental Assistant

About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency-Atlantic Network at the Medical Treatment Facility Cherry Point, performing intra-oral procedures, taking preliminary impressions, and operating dental x-ray equipment under the Directorate of Dental, a moderately sized dental clinic with 27 dental chairs. Hours of work are generally 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Perform chairside assistance duties in all phases of restorative, prosthodontic, surgical, endodontic and periodontal treatment as provided in general dentistry.

Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.

Obtain and record information related to medical history of patient and route patients for medical tests and services when required.

Take and modify preliminary impressions for study models and impression trays.

Provide oral hygiene instruction in the common causes of decay, brushing and flossing techniques, and care of prosthodontic appliances.

Operating dental x-ray equipment.
