Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, responding promptly to inquiries and directing calls appropriately
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Maintain accurate patient records by updating electronic health records (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history, reviewing documentation, and ensuring all forms are completed accurately
- Support clinical staff by preparing treatment rooms, managing supply inventories, and documenting care plans in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
- Perform clerical duties including filing, data entry with 10-key typing skills, and managing correspondence to ensure smooth office operations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a clinical or dental office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and health insurance processes including Medicare and private insurers
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and clinic management software
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining professionalism
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and perform insurance verification procedures efficiently
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Knowledge of dental terminology and clinical confidentiality policies is preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and medical records management
