About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead the operational performance of our busy Solihull depot. You will manage day-to-day depot activity, oversee fleet and asset control, and ensure safe, efficient delivery of temporary traffic systems across the region.

This is an ideal role for someone from a traffic management, plant hire, tool hire, logistics, construction support, or highways operations background.

Someone who will champion customer service excellence across all depot operations, ensuring the customer remains at the forefront of day-to-day decision-making. Lead the team to consistently deliver a responsive, reliable and high-quality service, making operational decisions with the customer experience and long-term relationships in mind.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily running of the depot, ensuring all jobs are delivered safely and on time
• Lead depot and field-based teams, promoting a positive, accountable and high-performance culture
• Oversee logistics, scheduling, warehouse operations, installations and collections
• Ensure all equipment (traffic lights, trailers, batteries, ITS assets) is tested, maintained and compliant
• Promote and enforce a strong health & safety culture across yard and site operations
• Maintain high standards of customer service, handling call-outs, breakdowns and urgent requests
• Control costs, monitor budgets and maximise commercial performance
• Identify inefficiencies and implement operational improvements
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and legal requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in depot management, traffic management, highways, utilities, plant hire, construction, logistics, or similar operational leadership roles
• Strong planning, organisation and decision-making skills
• Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment
• Good commercial understanding of fleet, assets, budgets and cost control
• Strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications / Experience:

• IOSH Managing Safely (or similar)
• NRSWA / Chapter 8 knowledge
• CSCS card
• Basic electrical/fault-finding knowledge
• Full UK driving licence (less than 6 points is essential)
