Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director - Screening

This Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director - Screening position is located at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to: Participates in briefings concerning security sensitive information and communicates with subordinate supervisors and employees regarding any weaknesses in the security screening process and makes recommendations for improvements. Exercises authority with managerial responsibilities over staff in a 24/7 environment. Makes major recommendations concerning significant internal and external program policy issues affecting the overall organization, such as scheduling, screener FTE allocation, selections, process control, developing performance criteria, and identifying, distributing, and balancing workload among employees. Evaluates and reports on the progress of work. Serves as an advisor or facilitator in coordinating team initiatives. Provides assistance in tactical and strategic planning including development of deployment plans, investment analyses, capital budgets, and acquisition plans. Reviews and analyzes checkpoint screening equipment and maintenance. Emergency Essential Position: This position is designated as an Emergency Essential (EE) position. This designation requires the employee to remain in a duty status if an emergency arises. Supervisory/Managerial: duties include serving as a first line supervisor for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to: assigning work, setting priorities, and reviewing and evaluating work and performance of subordinates; approving leave; coaching and developing employees; recommending corrective or disciplinary actions; resolving routine problems that typically impact the objectives of the organizational unit; when required, coordinating with customers outside the immediate organization; supervising employees performing special program work; and serving as the supervisor-in-charge of an assigned airport or other transportation terminal.

You must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and random drug/alcohol testing. You must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance. Disclosure of your financial information is required. Selective Service registration is required. Supervisory/Managerial Trial Period Requirements: Unless previously completed, you must satisfactorily complete a one-year supervisory trial period to continue in this supervisory/managerial position.
