Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Health Readiness Policy and Oversight

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Health Readiness Policy and Oversight (DASW(HRP&O)) is the principal staff assistant and advisor to the ASW(HA) for all DoW deployment medicine policies, programs, and activities.

The DASW(HRP&O) is the senior advisor and agent of the ASW(HA) and in carrying out these responsibilities directs Department-wide efforts to engage in the policy cycle to develop and analyze policies and oversee implementation and execution of policies and programs relating to DoW force health protection and readiness for 2.2 million service members. Responsibilities encompass a broad range and variety of functions and activities that are vital in supporting the mission of the Military Health System. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for force health protection and readiness doctrine, and the elements of the policy cycle and oversight, to include agenda setting, formulation, adoption, implementation, and evaluation. Guides and directs the policy cycle for provision of care in support of readiness and contingency operations and oversees the programs that enable deployment of fully trained and equipped medical personnel and units. Provides policy and oversight of the Combat Support Agency functions of the Defense Health Agency. Provides policy and oversight of all DoW issuances assigned to Health Readiness Policy and Readiness. Develops policy, defends requirements, and advocates for the utilization and integration of new technologies to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the military health care system in the deployed or contingency environment. Provides policy guidance and oversight in the functional areas of medical logistics, medical materiel supply chain, pharmaceuticals, manpower and personnel, resource methodologies, and information systems. Oversees and develops policies, strategies, and plans that govern the management of the Defense Health Program (DHP) medical research, development, and acquisition programs.

In order to qualify for this position, you must be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
