Deputy Clubhouse Manager - Sherfield Oaks Golf Club

Reports to: Clubhouse Manager

Role Purpose

The Deputy Clubhouse Manager supports the Clubhouse Manager with the day-to-day running of the clubhouse, ensuring a welcoming, professional and consistently high standard of service for members, guests and visitors.

This is a hands-on role, supporting food & beverage operations, team supervision, stock control, events and clubhouse standards. The Deputy Clubhouse Manager will take responsibility for designated shifts and deputise for the Clubhouse Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities

Clubhouse Operations

  • Support the daily operation of the bar, restaurant, terrace and function areas.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of food, beverage and customer service.
  • Supervise the team during service, including briefings and shift allocation.
  • Support the delivery of golf societies, functions and member events.
  • Deal with day-to-day member and guest queries professionally.

Requirements

Team & Stock

  • Support the training, motivation and development of the clubhouse team.
  • Assist with rotas, staffing and day-to-day team supervision.
  • Support stock ordering, deliveries, stock takes and wastage control.
  • Encourage appropriate upselling and good commercial awareness.
  • Assist with EPOS, cash handling and basic operational reporting.

Standards & Compliance

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and service throughout the clubhouse.
  • Follow food hygiene, health & safety and licensing requirements.
  • Report maintenance, safety and operational issues promptly.
  • Support the Clubhouse Manager in maintaining club policies and procedures.

Experience

  • 2–3 years' experience in hospitality, food & beverage or a supervisory/assistant management role.
  • Experience working in a busy hospitality environment.
  • Experience supervising or supporting a team.
  • Good knowledge of food & beverage service and customer care.
  • Golf club, country club, hotel or membership experience is desirable.

Skills & Personal Qualities

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage priorities in a busy environment.
  • Confident, approachable and comfortable leading a team during service.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of stock control and upselling.
  • Calm under pressure with a positive, hands-on approach.
  • High standards of presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 and EPOS/booking system experience are desirable.
