Deputy General Counsel
You will serve as the primary legal contact for regulatory matters across the Middle East and CIS. You will engage with financial regulators, advise senior stakeholders on product launches, monitor regulatory developments, manage external counsel, handle regulatory correspondence and enforcement matters, and help ensure local compliance across products, marketing materials, terms, and contracts.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal contact for regulatory matters across the Middle East and CIS
- Lead engagement with financial regulators, including licensing applications, notifications, RFI responses, and supervisory relationships
- Advise senior stakeholders on regulatory implications of new product launches
- Monitor and analyse regulatory developments and translate changes into guidance for business and compliance teams
- Partner with and manage external counsel on complex regulatory matters
- Handle regulatory correspondence, enforcement matters, and relationships with law enforcement and government authorities
- Provide legal input on marketing materials, product terms, and contractual arrangements
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Government Relations, and Product teams on regulatory strategy
Requirements
- Hold a law degree and be eligible to practice as an advocate
- Have 12+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team
- Have experience in financial services or the crypto industry
- Have experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues, or strong interest and knowledge in the field
- Understand, or be eager to learn, the relevant legal and regulatory landscape
- Have experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and with a global legal team
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts
