Job Description – Assistant Manager (Finance & Accounting)

Division: Nonprofit Finance & Accounting – U.S. Client Delivery
Location: India (U.S.-aligned shift as required)
Reports To: DM/Manager/Sr. Manager



Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Manager is a senior accounting professional responsible for managing complex accounting functions and supporting the financial reporting process for U.S.-based nonprofit clients. This role performs advanced technical accounting work, reviews team output, and supports compliance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 958).

The Assistant Manager remains primarily hands-on and execution-focused, while providing limited leadership and review support to Team Leads and Senior Associates.



Roles & Responsibilities

1. Advanced Close & Financial Reporting

  • Perform and review complex month-end close activities.
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements under ASC 958.
  • Review journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial statement fluctuations and support variance explanations.
  • Ensure proper net asset classification and restricted fund tracking.
  • Validate functional expense allocations for accuracy and consistency.
  • Support preparation of board-ready financial packages as required.


2. Revenue Recognition & Grant Accounting Support

  • Apply ASC 958 revenue recognition guidance for contributions and grants.
  • Review grant agreements to support proper accounting treatment.
  • Monitor deferred revenue and receivable balances.
  • Assist with indirect cost allocations and grant expense tracking.
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance concerns under 2 CFR 200.


3. Audit & Compliance Support

  • Assist in preparation and review of audit schedules.
  • Coordinate documentation requests during audit periods.
  • Review audit adjustments and ensure proper posting.
  • Support Single Audit preparation activities (where applicable).
  • Maintain strong documentation and audit trail standards.


4. Technical Review & Team Guidance

  • Review work prepared by Team Leads and Senior Associates.
  • Provide technical feedback and corrections.
  • Support resolution of accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist in training junior team members on nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Help maintain quality and consistency across engagements.
  • Assist/Prepare MIS, Data Mining and KPI Calculation


5. Client Interaction Support

  • Participate in client discussions for accounting clarifications.
  • Support resolution of accounting-related inquiries.
  • Provide updates on close status when required.
  • Assist with onboarding of new client engagements.


6. Process & Systems Support

  • Support improvements in close processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Assist in system clean-up or reporting enhancements.
  • Promote standardized documentation practices.
  • Maintain process norms and controls in place.
  • Identify process improvements and work to implement.


Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
  • 5–8 years of accounting experience with U.S. exposure.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Working knowledge of ASC 958 (nonprofit accounting).
  • Experience with revenue recognition and grant tracking.
  • Strong reconciliation and financial statement preparation skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Exposure to 2 CFR 200 compliance.
  • Experience supporting nonprofit audits.
  • BPO or outsourced accounting environment experience.
  • Professional certification/Qualification (CA / CPA equivalent Qualified with 1 to 3 years PQE).

Working Conditions and Environmental Attributes



Working Days : Monday - Friday

Working Hours – 9 hours (US work Shift Pattern), mix of WFO and WFH. The working hours may get extended due to nature of the business.

The employee must be willing to work at a location in a small-to mid-sized office setting, plus attend client conferences and meetings that may or may not be held during the workday. Travel to other Quatrro locations or client offices may be necessary, as well as physical presence at company meetings with other offices throughout the globe.
