Description

The Associate Medical Manager – Hospitals will support the Medical Affairs function for the Anti-infectives portfolio with a strong focus on upcoming antibiotics launches in the hospital segment.

This is a hybrid role involving approximately 7–8 days per month of field work engaging hospital-based healthcare professionals and Key Opinion Leaders, while the remaining time will be spent at the Head Office supporting medical strategy, evidence generation, scientific communication, and cross-functional initiatives.

The incumbent will play a key role in strengthening scientific engagement, supporting launch excellence, promoting antimicrobial stewardship, and ensuring ethical and compliant dissemination of medical information.


Essential Functions

Scientific & Medical Expertise

  • Develop strong scientific expertise in anti-infectives/antibiotics, including mechanism of action, antimicrobial resistance, treatment guidelines, and clinical evidence.
  • Provide scientific support to internal stakeholders including Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Commercial teams.
  • Keep abreast of evolving antimicrobial resistance trends, stewardship practices, and hospital treatment protocols.
  • Support development and delivery of scientific training programs for internal teams.

Field Medical Engagement

  • Conduct approximately 7–8 days of field visits per month to engage with:
    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
    • Infectious Disease Specialists
    • Intensivists
    • Microbiologists
    • Hospital Pharmacists
  • Lead scientific discussions on antibiotic therapy, antimicrobial resistance, stewardship, and appropriate patient selection.
  • Support pre-launch and launch activities through effective scientific positioning of products.
  • Gather field insights to strengthen medical strategy and brand planning.

Stakeholder Engagement & Medical Communication

  • Build and maintain scientific relationships with hospital-based healthcare professionals, KOLs, and institutions.
  • Organize and support:
    • Advisory Boards
    • Round Table Meetings
    • Scientific Speaker Programs
  • Deliver scientific presentations at CMEs, conferences, and hospital meetings.
  • Ensure balanced, evidence-based, and compliant scientific communication.

Medical Strategy & Launch Support

  • Contribute to medical launch planning for new antibiotics.
  • Provide medical inputs into:
    • Brand Strategy
    • Scientific Campaigns
    • Clinical Value Communication
  • Support Real-World Evidence (RWE) initiatives and Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS), where applicable.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure launch readiness and execution.

Evidence Generation & Medical Insights

  • Identify evidence gaps and support clinical data-generation initiatives.
  • Collect and synthesize medical insights related to treatment practices, resistance trends, and unmet clinical needs.
  • Support publication planning and scientific content development.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all medical activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Review scientific and promotional materials for medical accuracy.
  • Promote antimicrobial stewardship principles across all medical communications.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in national and regional scientific meetings and congresses.
  • Support medical information requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing scientific materials, FAQs, slide decks, and educational resources.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects supporting the hospital business.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Medical Affairs leadership team.

Qualifications

Education

  • MBBS / MD / PharmD / PhD

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Affairs experience.
  • Mandatory experience in Anti-infectives / Antibiotics.
  • Hospital-focused Medical Affairs experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting product launches or pre-launch activities is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Strong scientific knowledge of:
    • Anti-infective therapy
    • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
    • Antibiotic stewardship programs
    • Hospital treatment protocols
  • Excellent understanding of clinical data interpretation and evidence-based medicine.
  • Strong scientific presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with hospital KOLs and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and pharmacovigilance requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and matrix organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Willingness to travel for approximately 7–8 field working days per month.
