Primary duties:

  • Support the Planning Manager to drive forward both organisations’ key priorities for planning through effective management of resources and by ensuring that opportunities for improving the service are maximized.
  • Develop systems and procedures for planning functions at the onset of the project and as and when there are additional requirements from the client in order to facilitate the monitoring of construction and commissioning.
  • Finalize the staffing requirements of planning engineers in consultation with the Manager Planning.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the planning deliverables such as procedure construction schedules, resource histogram, reporting systems, commodity database, material control systems, etc. Provide guidance to the project control team working at head office and site for the project.
  • Prepare the detailed progress measurement system for construction commodity and construction progress S-curves. This will also help in determining the resource requirement and preparing manpower histogram.
  • Monitor progress of the construction work for timely execution of the project through daily, weekly, and monthly reports with respect to review of the overall project. Progress monitoring on a regular basis and resolve any problems, bottlenecks, or scheduling conflicts.
  • Review the status continuously and keep the Construction Manager appraised of the progress and the areas needing attention for schedule adherence.
  • Provide direction to the sub-contractor planning team in formulating overall execution plans which will satisfy the interest of overall project completion.
  • Maintain close coordination and follow-up with sub-contractors in implementing the work schedule and monitor progress of the work for timely execution of the project.
  • Work in close coordination with the Area Coordinator to ensure that the work progresses as per schedule and follow overall project priority.
  • Participate in review meetings with clients and sub-contractors.
  • Identify trends and alert management of critical activities.
  • Participate in department development activities for continual improvement in the planning system and services.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as and when directed by the Planning Manager or Project Control Manager of the project.

Minimum requirements:

Graduate engineer with approximately 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, conversant with projects and execution. Experience in head office and site planning.
