Deputy Project Director / Project Director
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a sustainable management plan for the Project Management department, including mentoring and managing Managers and Engineers.
- Promote the company’s expertise through advocacy, presentations, and participation in national, regional, and international technical forums.
- Lead project tendering efforts and contribute to strategic bidding for contracts.
- Ensure proper staff selection, training, and performance management, assigning clear roles and responsibilities to enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee performance appraisals, providing feedback and corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective implementation of all MEPL projects, monitoring activities, outputs, and outcomes.
- Review and manage project budgets, financial transactions, and timelines to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to schedules.
- Conduct regular project reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
- Manage internal and external project resources to drive revenue and maximize project profitability.
- Oversee the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, ensuring that project performance aligns with key deliverables.
- Chair meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and technical experts to ensure project alignment with strategic goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison for the project, ensuring smooth communication with government agencies, regulators, and key stakeholders.
- Facilitate technical collaboration and coordination activities with relevant authorities and partners.
- Provide presentations and reports to investors, business partners, and company executives for project review, approvals, and proposals.
- Ensure projects comply with regulations, safety measures, permits, and legal documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to align MEPL services with overall business strategy.
- Review project plans and implement corrective measures when schedules or budgets deviate from projections.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for MEPL projects to ensure on-time delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and project outcomes.
Leadership
- Lead and advise on program management, organizational development, in-service training, capacity building, and collaboration among partners, and stakeholders
- Oversees development of a monitoring and evaluation plan for the successive phases of the project to capture project performance and results. Creating change to achieve project goals and comfort with change
- Be an excellent team player /mentor to collaborate with the internal and external teams / business partners / stakeholders
Requirements:
- At least 10 Year(s) of working experience as management role of high value projects management of Mechanical or Electrical projects in industrial or commercial sectors
- Well verse in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Sanitary (MEPL) and fire system knowledge and standards
- Candidate must possess at least bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Proficient in MS Excels/words/PowerPoint/Project
- Preferred skill sets: good leadership skill, self-Driven, resourceful, problem-solving nature, strong business acumen, project management and good conversational/writing skills in English
