Desenvolvedor(a) Back-end Especialista

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Desenvolvedor(a) Back-end Especialista based in Brazil.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity focused on the stability, resilience, and continuous evolution of a high-volume SaaS platform. You will act as a key technical reference for backend operations, supporting complex production incidents and driving improvements that reduce downtime and MTTR. The role combines hands-on development with architecture modernization, automation, observability, and operational excellence. You will work closely with development, SRE, product, and customer operations teams to solve complex technical challenges. A major focus will be reducing technical debt and operational toil while improving platform performance and reliability. You will also mentor engineers, establish engineering standards, and help shape scalable solutions in a collaborative and fast-moving environment.

• Act as a senior technical reference for backend development, platform stability, and technical decision-making.
• Serve as the final technical escalation level (N3) for complex incidents involving SaaS applications, messaging systems, and communication platforms.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex production issues with a strong focus on reducing MTTR and improving service availability.
• Maintain and evolve high-throughput, low-latency messaging and communication systems with a focus on resilience, scalability, and performance.
• Identify technical debt and legacy components, leading refactoring and modernization initiatives while maintaining business continuity.
• Automate repetitive operational activities and reduce engineering toil through tooling, process improvements, and automation.
• Develop and maintain detailed runbooks, technical documentation, and internal knowledge bases to increase operational autonomy.
• Mentor N1 and N2 teams through technical training, knowledge sharing, and Tech Talks, reducing unnecessary escalations.
• Establish and promote engineering best practices around software design, automated testing, code reviews, maintainability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with SRE and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable, sustainable, and technically robust software solutions.
• Contribute to the modernization of backend architecture and the adoption of contemporary technologies and development practices.
• Lead selected technical initiatives and facilitate decision-making across teams in a dynamic environment.

Requirements:

• Solid experience supporting, maintaining, and evolving SaaS products in production environments.
• Strong expertise in Node.js, including deep understanding of the Event Loop, memory management, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Extensive experience with NestJS for new development, as well as maintaining and evolving applications built with Express and Koa.
• Advanced TypeScript knowledge, including strong typing, object-oriented and functional programming practices, and maintainable code design.
• Practical experience designing, implementing, and supporting event-driven and asynchronous architectures using technologies such as Apache Kafka and AWS SQS.
• Strong experience with MongoDB, including data modeling, aggregation, and query optimization.
• Experience with application observability and DevOps practices, including OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar platforms for metrics, logging, and distributed tracing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Previous experience providing technical leadership, facilitating engineering decisions, resolving conflicts, and influencing teams in dynamic environments.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a structured approach to diagnosing complex production problems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across development, SRE, product, and operations teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering standards and technical best practices.
• Experience with AWS Amazon DocumentDB is a plus.
• Practical knowledge of SDD / Spec-Driven Development or documentation-led development methodologies is advantageous.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM architectures into SaaS products for automation or new product capabilities is a plus.
• Experience with Claude Code is an additional advantage.
