Design and Planning Director, Design Services, Greater China

Job Overview

The Design & Planning Director reports to the Regional Vice President – Design Services, Greater China, and is responsible for executing Technical Services within the assigned region while maintaining the integrity of Hyatt’s Design Standards. The Director provides design expertise from early concept development through delivery, and manages external consultants to ensure that design solutions reflect brand positioning, support business objectives, and meet project requirements.

A key responsibility of this position is serving as Design Leader for Hyatt Essential Brands in Greater China. The Director leads design direction and execution for Hyatt Essential Brands portfolio, continually optimizing brand design standards and guiding implementation in Greater China market. Success in this role calls for strong insight into the select service hotel market, sound design judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to connect brand intent, business priorities, and project delivery across Greater China.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the architecture and interior design function for Hyatt Design Services’ Essential segment in Greater China.
• Support design innovation and optimization of Hyatt Essential Brands in Greater China.
• Maintain and update Essential Brand design standards and communicate design requirements to Brand and Operations teams.
• Support owners, consultants, and other stakeholders from the early development stage through design, construction, handover, and opening.
• Evaluate potential projects through site visits and design reviews to assess feasibility and compliance with brand standards.
• Support renovation projects by providing design guidelines and advice to operating teams.
• Oversee consultants’ design processes across multiple projects, protecting owners’ investment while upholding Hyatt’s brand standards and product integrity.
• Review drawings, plans, and specifications submitted by owners and design consultants, and advise on their alignment with approved designs.
• Guide owners’ consultants, contractors, and project management teams in implementing Global Design Standards and all brand touchpoints.
• Produce sketch drawings to communicate with owners and owners’ consultants.
• Maintain effective communication with Hyatt International Engineering and Technical Services specialists.
