Design Authority Lead

Definition

The Design Authority Lead is responsible for establishing the design requirements and ensuring that design output documentation appropriately and accurately reflects the design basis.

The Design Authority is responsible for design control and ultimate technical adequacy of the design process. These responsibilities are applicable whether the process is conducted fully in-house, partially contracted to outside organizations, or fully contracted to outside organizations. The Design Authority may delegate design work, but not its responsibilities.

A Design Authority Lead is responsible of leading body of senior team from inside and outside an organization who have skills and experience in specific technologies, who will consider, investigate and advise on best practice and the design of a well-engineered solution to address technical challenges, for example he will lead a team of:

• Business Architect
  

• Microservices Architect
  

• Data Architect
  

• Security Architect
  

• Tech/Infra Architect
  

• DevSecOps Architect
  

• Quality Architect
  

• Business Analyst
  

• … etc.
  

The Design Authority Lead will be an experienced Enterprise Architect, with 15+years of experience, and must have communication, analytical, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

In addition to previous experience in all of data sourcing, enterprise data management, modeling, business strategy, auditing and compliance, cloud computing, system architecture, strategy development and enterprise solutions.

Design Authority Lead Responsibilities:

• Evaluating business and technical functions, business development strategies, and IT processes and suggesting improvements.
  

• Creating business architecture models to reflect the project's strategies and goals and creating and implementing business visions and goals.
  

• Evaluating systems engineering, talent recruiting, and accounting models for discrepancies and vulnerabilities.
  

• Suggesting ideas to reduce costs in IT and business leadership.
  

• Providing business architecture and systems processing guidance.
  

• Ensuring the efficiency, security, and support of the organization's goals.
  

• Creating methods for compliance architecture, such as data storage, metadata management, and change control.
  

• Determining and implementing build versus buy strategies, mentor personnel, and views of the overall business strategy.
