Design Coordinator (Sleep, Apparel & Soft Goods)

Discussion

Printfresh is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Design Coordinator to support our Design team throughout the seasonal product-development process.

This role helps keep design information, samples, meetings and seasonal deliverables organized, accurate and on schedule. The Design Coordinator will maintain key design documents, prepare materials for reviews, capture and follow up on decisions, and partner closely with Product Development, Technical Design, Print/CAD and Merchandising.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in the operational side of sleep, accessories, home, and apparel design who enjoys bringing structure to a creative, fast-moving environment. While some familiarity with apparel design and Adobe Illustrator is helpful, this is primarily a coordination and design-support role.

This is a full-time, in-house position, working out of our Philadelphia office M-F.

Responsibilities

Seasonal Design Coordination

  • Support the Design team throughout the seasonal development process, helping keep priorities, deliverables and deadlines organized.
  • Set up and maintain seasonal design projects, calendars and task lists based on the company’s time-and-action calendar.
  • Track outstanding design decisions and follow up with team members to help ensure milestones are completed on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate line plans, color documents, style information and seasonal presentations.
  • Help organize shared design files so that current information is easy to locate and clearly communicated.

Tech Packs and Design Documentation

  • Create style numbers and set up initial tech-pack files for new styles.
  • Input approved sketches, colorways, artwork, trims and design information into tech packs.
  • Maintain the design portions of tech packs throughout the development process.
  • Update documents based on approved decisions from design and sample-review meetings.
  • Check design packages for completeness and accuracy before handing them off to Product Development.
  • Partner with Product Development and Technical Design to resolve missing or inconsistent information.

Meetings and Follow-Through

  • Prepare agendas, samples and supporting materials for design, proto-review and seasonal milestone meetings.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, take clear notes and document decisions and action items.
  • Distribute follow-ups and help track outstanding tasks in partnership with Design and Product Development.
  • Ensure that decisions made in meetings are reflected in the appropriate files, trackers and presentations.

Sample and Material Organization

  • Receive, label, organize and maintain design samples and reference materials.
  • Prepare samples for design reviews, fittings, line reviews and seasonal presentations.
  • Maintain an organized design library of samples, fabrics, trims, swatches and development references.
  • Coordinate with the Product Development Coordinator on sample status, routing and handoffs.
  • Help prepare and organize samples and product information for Marketing, Photography and Wholesale.

Artwork, Trim and Development Support

  • Track the design status of artwork, print placements, trims, labels and other design components.
  • Prepare approved artwork, trim and development materials for handoff to Product Development.
  • Assist designers with basic updates to CADs, color documents or artwork files as directed.
  • Help ensure that incoming samples reflect approved design direction and flag discrepancies to the appropriate designer.
  • Maintain records of design revisions and approvals throughout the development process.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Print/CAD, Merchandising and Production.
  • Communicate relevant design updates and help ensure cross-functional partners are working from current information.
  • Support preparation of prior-season product, print and performance presentations using information supplied by Merchandising.
  • Assist with additional organizational and administrative projects that help the Design team operate effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, Product Development or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant internship or 1–2 years of experience in apparel design, product development or design operations.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust as seasonal needs change.
  • Proactive and comfortable following up with team members to keep work moving.
  • Basic understanding of apparel construction, fabrics, trims and the product-development process.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with Asana, PLM or similar product-development systems is a plus.
  • Collaborative, curious and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

What Success Looks Like

  • The Design team has accurate, organized materials for every key review and milestone.
  • Tech packs, line plans, trackers and presentations reflect current design decisions.
  • Design-to-Product Development handoffs are complete and clearly documented.
  • Samples and reference materials are organized and easy to locate.
