Design Director Visual Systems

You will build and maintain scalable visual systems spanning illustration, motion, iconography, color, typography, and layout. You will connect brand direction with in-product experiences, set art direction and creative standards, lead and develop visual designers, and create reusable templates, token-driven frameworks, and component guidance for campaigns, launches, and growth work. You will incorporate AI tools into creative workflows to support ideation, production, asset generation, and systematic design at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable visual systems across illustration, motion, iconography, color, typography, and layout.
• Integrate visual systems with the Design System and Content System.
• Translate go-to-market brand direction into coherent in-app experiences.
• Set art direction, design rationale, visual storytelling, and the creative bar for product and campaign work.
• Lead, mentor, develop, and hire visual designers.
• Create reusable templates, token-driven visual frameworks, and component-level creative guidance.
• Use AI workflows for ideation, visual production, asset generation, and systematic design work.

Requirements

• Have 8+ years of visual design experience with a portfolio demonstrating concept-driven work, art direction, and brand-led product design.
• Have experience building or contributing to visual systems, design languages, or brand-in-product frameworks.
• Have a proven record of leading and developing design teams, including hiring and mentoring.
• Demonstrate deep art-direction expertise across illustration, motion, iconography, and layout.
• Have agency and in-house product experience.
• Understand how to translate brand strategy into technically scalable product visual systems.
• Apply systems thinking to prioritization, reusable frameworks, tokens, and tradeoffs.
• Have hands-on experience using AI tools in creative workflows.
