Design Drafter Responsibilities & Duties

Create detailed technical drawings and plans using CAD software

Collaborate with engineers and architects to understand project requirements

Review and revise plans based on feedback and technical specifications

Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulations

Prepare assembly and installation guidelines based on drawings

Maintain and update existing design documentation

Assist in troubleshooting design issues during the production phase

Present designs to stakeholders and incorporate their feedback

Participate in project meetings and contribute to design planning

Perform field visits to gather information and validate designs

Design Drafter Qualifications & Skills

Proficiency in multiple CAD software programs

Experience in both 2D and 3D modeling

Strong understanding of engineering principles

Excellent communication skills for collaborative work

Previous experience in a similar role

Familiarity with manufacturing and engineering processes

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to meet tight deadlines

Attention to detail

Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar

Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics

Strong mathematical skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Basic knowledge of industry standards and regulations
