Design Eng Tech II
Summary
Prepares project drawings and bills of materials for standard and C1-custom metal building product lines, maintaining part data in manufacturing software and reviewing contracts and site plans. Occasional job-site visits and customer/erector phone support; core tools are drafting software and BOM processes.
The Design Engineering Technician II is responsible for preparing project drawings and bills of materials for both standard and C1 level custom building product lines. Candidates should ideally have an associate’s degree in drafting, with experience in drafting software and knowledge of metal building systems preferred. Strong attention to detail, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to read technical documents are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare project drawings and bills of materials for standard and 80% C1 custom building product lines.
• Enter and maintain data in manufacturing software.
• Creation of parts including project drawings and entering data in manufacturing software.
• May include checking of bills of materials and drawings for standard buildings.
• Read and interpret contracts and other documents including work requests, customers
site plans, product improvement memos, and layout sketches.
• Visit job sites for training on new parts and erection methods as available.
• May include answering telephone calls from customers and erectors regarding specific building designs.
