EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. (Required)

Master’s degree in technical discipline is the equivalent of 1 year experience.

EXPERIENCE

10 Years + engineering experience; (Required)

8 years nuclear design-related engineering experience. (Preferred)

3 years nuclear design-related engineering experience. (Required)

STP experience (preferred).

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

There is no Certification or Licensure Listed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES ENGINEER DESIGN

Prepares/reviews engineering changes for plant modifications in accordance with the Standard Design Change Process.

Prepares/reviews non-physical design changes to update design documentation for configuration control maintenance.

Prepares/reviews electrical drawings, design calculations, cable routing database changes, and protective device database changes.

Prepares/reviews engineering evaluations to address technical plant issues.

Performs design verifications and technical reviews of engineering work products.

Verifies sizing of switchgear, batteries, inverters, transformers, motor overload protection, and cable.

Provides electrical engineering technical expertise to maintain the design bases of the plant.

Provides electrical engineering support within multidisciplinary team projects and assignments.

Supports regulatory related activities (e.g. 10CFR50.59 Evaluations, Operability & Reportability Reviews, NRC inspection responses, NERC Reliability Standards compliance, and some 10CFR50 Appendix R Safe Shutdown Analysis).

ENGINEERING INVESTIGATION AND CORRECTIVE ACTION:

Prepares/reviews complex safety evaluations and significant hazards review for plant repairs and conditions.

Prepares/reviews non-conforming component disposition. Evaluates the extent of the condition and its effect on the component's ability to perform the required design function, including complex issues.

Prepares/reviews investigations to significant condition reports for apparent or root cause and generate recommendations for corrective actions.

Prepares/reviews/approves engineering documentation (e.g.: calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, evaluations, etc.).

Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP, and identify appropriate corrective actions.

ENGINEERING OPERATIONS COORDINATION:

Manages the interface with other departments and regulatory agencies by leading meetings and discussions to provide specific information and analysis to questions/problems.

Prepares/manages schedule and budget activities on a project level.

Performs duties of the Section Supervisor as delegated.

Provides Management level reports on specific tasks.

Prepares/reviews Reportability and Operability Reviews of station problems/events; evaluate regulatory requirements for Reportability and submit written recommendations to Management.

Provides mentoring and training to co-workers.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accept ERO position as needed.

Accept outage position as needed.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of electrical power systems analyses, including system voltage regulation and short circuit analysis.

Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.

Strong written and verbal communications skills required.

Ability to work independently and interface with all levels of personnel required.

Knowledge of design, operations, maintenance, and testing, preferably nuclear power.

Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.

Ability to use a personal computer and up-to-date software.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.

Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.

Normal office environment with frequent field inspections in a plant environment and in all kinds of weather conditions.

May require working outdoors and at night.

Travel may be required.

May be required to carry pager/phone.
