Introduction:

KLX Design Engineer plays a critical role in developing and delivering engineering proposals for advanced cooling solutions. This position requires strong technical expertise in HVAC/ACMV systems, thermosiphon refrigeration, and data centre cooling applications. The engineer will be responsible for preparing technical drawings, calculations, and documentation to support project execution and compliance.

Engineering Design & Analysis

  • Develop cooling system layouts that accommodate pipe thermal expansion and avoid routing water pipes above electrical equipment.

  • Perform heat load calculations, airflow distribution analysis, and system performance assessments.

  • Determine the maximum heat capacity of Information Technology Equipment (ITE) racks.

  • Define the required quantities of HRM, RCU, CCB, control valves, and piping to meet redundancy and resilience requirements.

  • Prepare technical proposals supported by engineering calculations and layouts.

  • Use AI-assisted tools, where appropriate, to support design optimisation, heat load prediction, and airflow simulation.

Drawings & Site Coordination

  • Conduct site surveys and translate measurements into accurate proposal drawings and as-built drawings upon project completion.

  • Develop 3D models and produce 2D and 3D drawings, including parts, assemblies, and combined services drawings.

  • Prepare piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement (GA) drawings, and schematics.

  • Collaborate with project teams and relevant stakeholders to ensure designs meet site and project requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Establish and maintain consistent document and drawing naming conventions for easy retrieval.

  • Manage document versions and revisions to ensure the latest approved drawings and documents are used.

  • Maintain accurate document registers and organised filing systems.

  • Submit daily and weekly work activity reports to the immediate supervisor and relevant management.

  • Perform other assigned duties to support project delivery and organisational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Preferably 3–5 years of relevant design engineering experience in HVAC/ACMV or data centre cooling systems.

  • Experience working with engineering companies or contractors.

  • Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor.

  • Strong knowledge of thermosiphon refrigeration, chilled water systems, and airflow analysis.

  • Ability to prepare P&IDs, GA drawings, and schematic drawings.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and organisational skills.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to travel overseas or outstation when required.

Added Advantages

  • Proficiency in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and additional CAD tools such as SolidWorks or equivalent.

  • Experience with AI-assisted design optimisation, load prediction, or airflow simulation tools.

Why Join KoolLogix?

  • Contribute to engineering solutions for data centre cooling.

  • Gain exposure across the project lifecycle, from site surveys and design proposals to final as-built documentation.

  • Apply your technical skills while exploring new design tools and methods.
