Design Engineer, Mechanical (New Product Development)

About the role:

Design Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components and systems by applying engineering principles and techniques. Designs piece-part and sub-assemblies using Creo or equivalent CAD software. Creates and checks Engineering Orders, BOM, drawings, and technical documentation (Technical Report, DRBFM's, etc.) to release a new product. This position provides technical support to Manufacturing, Test Operations, Technical Publications, Service Engineering, Product Marketing, and Purchasing. Member of New Product Development (NPD) design team working under Senior Design Engineer, Design Leader, or Manager.

What you will do:

  • Research, develop, design, and test mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components and systems by applying engineering principles and techniques to meet customer specifications or market expectations.
  • Problem solving: Troubleshoot assembly issues, advising service about field issues, advising inspection about quality issues and sales about engineering questions.
  • Creation of part numbers, bills of materials (BOM’s), assembly instructions using enterprise system such as BPCS or SAP.
  • Release documentation including Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings (piece part, sub-assembly and assemblies), kitbooks, and engineering change orders (ECO).
  • Verifying the accuracy of drawings, engineering change orders (ECO), bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions to meet customer specifications and for manufacturability.
  • Improve current processes by updating and creating best practices and/or design guides.

When & Where:

  • Hybrid Work Schedule in office 3 days a week
  • Some domestic travel expected, 1-3 times annually. International travel possible, dependent on project.
