Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer - OHE & SCADA to join our dynamic railway engineering team. This role is critical in
the design, development, and optimization of Overhead Equipment (OHE)
and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for modern
railway and metro infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong
foundation in both AC (1x25kV & 2x25kV) and DC (750V) traction
power systems, with proven experience in railway system design,
particularly in metro and high-speed rail environments. You will play a
pivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, efficiency, and
compliance of electrification systems across complex rail networks. Your
work will directly impact the performance and scalability of
next-generation rail systems, contributing to seamless, sustainable, and
high-capacity urban and intercity transit solutions. This position
offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within a rapidly
evolving industry, where innovation and precision are paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design,
detailing, and optimization of Overhead Line Equipment (OHE) systems for
1x25kV and 2x25kV AC railway electrification networks.
- Develop
and manage SCADA system architecture and integration for traction power
supply networks, ensuring real-time monitoring, control, and fault
detection.
- Prepare detailed technical specifications, design calculations, and engineering estimates for OHE and SCADA components.
- Collaborate
with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and
electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of OHE and SCADA
systems within broader railway infrastructure.
- Conduct site
assessments and feasibility studies for new electrification projects,
particularly in metro and urban rail environments.
- Ensure
compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, EN, etc.) and
national railway regulations for electrical safety, performance, and
reliability.
- Support tender documentation, technical evaluations, and vendor coordination for procurement of OHE and SCADA equipment.
- Perform system simulations and load-flow studies to validate design performance under varying operational conditions.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases, resolving design-related issues promptly.
- Stay
current with emerging technologies and industry trends in railway
electrification and smart grid integration for rail systems.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in railway electrification system design, with a focus on OHE and SCADA systems.
- Proven
expertise in the design and analysis of 1x25kV and 2x25kV AC traction
power systems, as well as 750V DC systems for metro and rail
applications.
- In-depth knowledge of ROCS (Railway Overhead
Contact System) design principles, including catenary geometry,
mechanical clearances, and dynamic performance.
- Hands-on
experience with SCADA system design, including communication protocols
(IEC 61850, Modbus, etc.), redundancy planning, and cyber-security
considerations.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar).
- Strong understanding of railway system design standards and codes (e.g., UIC, CENELEC, AAR, or national railway authorities).
- Experience working on metro or high-capacity rail projects is highly desirable.
- Excellent
analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with the
ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with experience presenting technical designs to stakeholders and clients.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and support field activities when required.
