Design Engineer

Job Description

PCI is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for its PCI San Diego 571 operations based in San Diego, CA.

This individual will be responsible for the following duties:

Create and maintain detailed 3D BIM models using Revit for assigned construction scopes.
Participate in project kickoff, BIM coordination, and design meetings to ensure scope, requirements, and Level of Development are understood.
Model and coordinate interior/exterior walls, framing, ceilings, specialty panels, clean rooms, access floors, Unistrut, and other specialty scopes.
Coordinate models with point clouds, project documents, and other trades to ensure spatial accuracy and PCI scope coordination.
Perform BIM quality control, compliance checks, and clash detection using Navisworks Manage.
Identify, resolve, and escalate design, model, and coordination issues to BIM, Design, and Operations teams.
Develop project-specific Revit content, families, details, layouts, and installation drawings in accordance with project and company standards.
Prepare and organize CAD, Navisworks, and BIM files for field use and provide design/installation support.
Collaborate with clients, BIM/VDC service providers, and internal teams to implement best practices and improve project efficiency.
Support laser scanning, reality capture, and point cloud processing to verify existing conditions and improve coordination.
Utilize robotic layout technology to generate and validate field layout points and improve construction accuracy.
Develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules using Primavera P6, including resource loading and progress updates.
Participate in training and special projects while helping improve BIM/VDC processes, technology, and construction practices.

Salary Range: $88,800 - $119,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program

Basic Qualifications

4+ years of BIM/Revit modeling and VDC coordination experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferred; a 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience will be considered.
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud/Forma, and Bluebeam.
Strong understanding of design and construction document coordination.
Ability to demonstrate Revit and Revit Family Editor experience through a portfolio.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong communication, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and respond to changing project needs.
Willingness to visit project sites as needed.
Passion for using BIM/VDC technology to improve construction productivity, accuracy, and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with metal stud framing, interior/exterior framing, acoustical ceilings, and specialty ceilings.
Experience with Dynamo, Revit API, SketchUp, Primavera P6, or iConstruct.
