Design Engineer- Water Supply & Sewerage

Job Purpose

To plan, design, and develop water supply and sewerage infrastructure projects including transmission systems, distribution networks, pumping stations, water treatment plants (WTPs), sewer networks, sewage treatment plants (STPs), and associated civil, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. The role ensures compliance with applicable standards, technical specifications, environmental regulations, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design

• Prepare engineering designs for water supply and sewerage systems.
• Design water transmission mains, distribution networks, sewer networks, pumping stations, reservoirs, WTPs, and STPs.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and network modeling using industry software (watergem, sewergem).
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, layouts, profiles, and schematics.
• Prepare design reports, calculations, BOQs, and technical specifications.

Technical Skills

• Hydraulic design of water supply and sewerage networks.
• Water treatment and wastewater treatment process knowledge.
• Preparation of engineering drawings and design documentation.
• Proficiency in:
  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D
  • WaterGEMS / WaterCAD
  • SewerGEMS / SewerCAD
  • EPANET
  • GIS applications
  • MS Excel and project management tools

Knowledge Requirements

• CPHEEO Manual on Water Supply and Sewerage.
• Indian Standards (IS Codes) and relevant design guidelines.
• Environmental and pollution control regulations.
• Construction practices for pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants.
• Contract management and tendering procedures.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/ Equivalent (Diploma with higher experience can be considered)

Experience

• Typically 3-10 years of experience in water supply and sewerage infrastructure projects.
• Experience in municipal infrastructure, urban development, AMRUT, Jal Jeevan Mission, Smart City, or sewerage projects is desirable.
