- Support a team of mechanical designers specializing in:
- Structural design
- Sheet metal components
- Fabrication and welding processes
- Assembly of modular enclosures
- Translate engineering requirements, specifications, and concepts into detailed:
- 3D models
- 2D drawings and layouts
- Utilize industry-standard CAD tools, including:
- SolidWorks
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices
- Review and approve engineering drawings, models, and documentation for accuracy, manufacturability, and quality
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution
- Manage and coordinate work with third-party design contractors, ensuring alignment with project scope, timelines, and quality expectations
- Provide technical guidance on fabrication methods, welding practices, and assembly processes
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and documentation standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering
- Proven experience designing structural and sheet metal systems, preferably for fabricated or modular products
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in:
- SolidWorks
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding methods, and assembly techniques
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., structural, safety, and manufacturing standards)
- Experience managing or collaborating with third-party engineering/design contractors
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Hands-on experience transitioning designs from concept to production
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative and results-driven approach
