Design Head – Vehicle Integration (Construction Electric Vehicles) (ID 1403)

Posted
Discussion

Summary

Leads vehicle integration and packaging for electric construction equipment (excavators and wheel loaders): owns the master 3D layout, coordinates hydraulics, battery/powertrain and structural teams, manages weight/CG, and drives designs from concept to production readiness. Core tools include high-end 3D CAD such as Creo Parametric and Teamcenter.

Vehicle Architecture & Packaging: Lead the overall spatial layout and packaging of the machine; manage the master vehicle 3D model and layout structure for excavators and wheel loaders.
 Subsystem Synchronization: Coordinate with the Hydraulics, Powertrain (Battery/Motor), and Structural teams to ensure interference-free integration and optimal routing of high-voltage cables and hydraulic hoses.
 Weight & CG Management: Maintain strict control over vehicle weight distribution and Center of Gravity (CG) to ensure machine stability, high payload performance, and structural integrity.
 Serviceability & Ergonomics: Design the vehicle layout with a strong focus on operator visibility, cabin ergonomics, and easy access for maintenance (e.g., battery swapping/charging, hydraulic filters).
 Design Validation & Clearance: Conduct digital DMU reviews, tolerance stack-up analysis, and clearance checks; lead the physical prototype assembly to catch and resolve integration issues early.
 NPI Delivery: Drive the integration cycle from the initial concept sketch to full-scale production readiness, ensuring strict adherence to project timelines and safety standards.

Requirements

 Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related technical field.
 Industry Experience: Minimum 8 years of core experience in the Construction Equipment (CE) space (Excavators, Wheel Loaders, or Backhoes is a must).
 Expert CAD Packaging: Advanced proficiency in high-end 3D CAD software (Creo Parametric/Teamcenter preferred) for complex assemblies, sheet metal, and routing modules.
 Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of heavy machinery structural frames, counterweight balancing, vehicle dynamics, and thermal management layouts.
 EV Familiarity: Understanding of high-voltage safety clearances and clearance requirements around battery enclosures is highly desirable.
 Soft Skills: Strong cross-functional leadership, exceptional spatial visualization, and a problem-solving mindset to resolve engineering conflicts between teams.
