Sun Design has an exciting new opening for a Design Assistant to join our team! This person is a valuable member of a unique team that is on a mission to deliver WOW through service. We need a team player who puts customer service first, works well with others, and respects the process we follow to get the job done. We appreciate flexibility, a great attitude, and a good sense of humor. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required.
The Design Assistant is accountable to the Design Team Manager, but receives direction and is directly supervised by his/her team leader to a) provide effective assistance to prepare presentations of residential design concepts for our clients; b) assist in coordinating selections material quotes and orders; c) organize, prepare, distribute and file materials and data to help establish and maintain effective communication and information systems within the design department; d) maintain organization and cleanliness of the sample library/design studio; and e) assist in the completion of design and construction drawings utilizing Sun Design's 3D CAD software for both Lead Designers between design reviews and/or for CAD designers as needed f) Run Permits.
Key Duties
Project Support:
• Input and update finish selection details in our Client Relations Management system
• Create and update visual aids for client meetings, including PowerPoint documents, Presentation boards, Virtual Realty walk-throughs and vignettes with cabinetry, tile and countertop materials
• Contact vendors to obtain quotes for finish selections
• Pickup tile, carpet, granite samples from vendors
• Assist designer with gathering project detail documentation for hand off to construction crew
Library Maintenance:
• Manage sample library inventory
i. Current and discontinued items
ii. Organization of samples
iii. Client check-out and return due dates
CAD Support to CAD Designer:
• Assist with Site Measures at client's homes for existing conditions for new projects as needed
Support and learn from a talented team of residential design professionals. This entry level position is a great opportunity for a recent graduate with both 3D drafting and colorful hand rendering experience. He/she must become proficient in use of Chief Architect software. He/she must be self-motivated, creative, detail oriented, organized, works well under pressure and have reliable transportation. This position will require driving to vendor locations to pick up samples, client homes and between two Northern Virginia office locations.
